Strikingly spotted Taimen on fly from the headwaters of a pure mountain river in the remote Eastern Sayan mountain range, Mongolian-Siberian borders.
A wilderness river running through a canyon of breathtaking beauty in the vast National Park of northern Mongolia. – The massive granite mountains and hard basalt rocks of this landscape make the „Josemite Valley“ in California appear to be just a small playground.
Record-class Taimen can be expected during our Taimen river expedition on special permissions for the National Park. This wild river stretch is strictly protected and fished only once a year exclusively by our small group of fly-fishing sportsmen.
Two days on horseback across scenic Highlands with breathtaking views must be endured to reach the remote headwaters, where our extensive river-float tour and the Taimen fishing begins.
Even a young Taimen on the dry mouse-fly is a great experience for the newcomer to Taimen fishing in wild Mongolia.
Our typical river encampments are erected of three large expedition teepees made by TENTIPI in Sweden, equipped with portable stainless wood-burning stoves for warm comfort after each fishing day along the mountain river.
Beautifully marked Lenok Trout in the average weight of 3 to 6 pound are caught on fly on a daily basis. These Siberian Char behave very much like our European Brown Trout and demand a stealthy fishing approach.
The crystal-clear waters of a pure mountain stream. Many a lovely Taimen pool for the avid fly-fisher during the 12 day river-float tour, exclusively for our fishing guests only.
A trophy-class Taimen of nearly 4 feet caught & released on fly by a happy camper from Europe, at our wild river in the remote Highlands of the Eastern Sayan Mountain Range.
Our fishing clients and the European Taimen guide are floating down the wild river on light, easily maneuverable rafts and canoes for productive fishing, while the camping gear is carried by our native horsemen and their pack-camels. - Each evening the encampment is set-up at a new hotspot for fishing large Taimen and Lenok Trout, and a rich dinner is prepared fresh at the campfire.
Our Mongolian horsemen and native pathfinders using camels, the “heavy transport vehicles” of the Mongolian outback, to carry our teepees, camping gear and full expedition equipment to the next encampment along the wild river.
Beautifully spotted Taimen in prime condition from a lovely run and pool at the headwaters, - perfect fishing spots for the avid game-fishing angler in search of large Taimen.

Trophy-class Taimen from the pure mountain stream are strong and fight hard, and even though not every fish can be landed by the newcomer to Mongolia, - but these Taimen are sure to deliver a fine drill and an experience deeply engraved in Your memory for the rest of Your life.
The common Mongolian Grayling from the mountain streams is beautifully colored with plenty of orange dots, and the “Lady of the Stream” responds readily to fine nymphing techniques as well as to the special dry fly with light tackle and the long # 6-weight rod.
Tributary creeks and small rivers entering the wild Taimen river are never overseen and always deliver plenty of beautiful Lenok Trout and colorful Grayling for our professionally guided fishing guests each season.
Light # 6-weight fly-fishing tackle works best for mature Lenok Trout and Grayling, but keeps some power in reserve for the young Taimen, who may accept the same productive guide-flies at any moment.
Young Taimen of 3 to 4 feet on light # 9-weight double-handers with smaller flies make for great sport on a daily basis, if guided well and with knowledge in specialized Taimen fishing.
A Taimen guide’s fly-fishing equipment with our light rafts and slender canoes serve for a stealthy fishing-approach and for productive Taimen fishing at the wild mountain rivers across northern Mongolia.
Taimen of 4 feet in the trophy-class are beautifully spotted and make for a tremendous game fish on fly, especially when fished at one of the most scenic mountain rivers across northern Mongolia.
You don’t need to be rich to travel well. And for productive Taimen fishing You don’t need prime dining and the best wines every evening, - but a tough sportsman’s attitude, ready for something bigger …
