Taimen Wilderness-Expeditions Spring 2013
This year´s new offer, - a demanding fishing expedition 15 days with horses, tents and rafts along the Siberian borderline in untouched backcountry at the upper Delger Moron River. This wild river is meandering through deep canyons within a National Park. Special permissions from the governments and authorities of both countries will be arranged by us for every single fisherman individually. Only 4 to 6 experienced, physically healthy and enduring sportsmen can take part at this wilderness fishing expedition and river float tour. The second week of this tour will be operated from a well-equipped base camp of native yurta-gers, situated at a strategic and most productive fishing spot at the upper Delger Moron. Pure wilderness Tour across a breathtaking landscape, extraordinary high Taimen results during our first expedition in the spring of 2012. Just as productive for large Lenok Trout and Baikal Grayling in the crystal clear river. Conditions are perfect for fly-fishing. The upper Delger Moron is a river, which must have evolved with his dramatic canyons, bizarre rocks and magical deep pools in the dreams and visions of a fly-fisherman ...
Another new offer for this year, is a little more comfortable, but extremely attractive wilderness tour 14 days in 2 separate fishing camps at completely different mountain ranges and fishing conditions. - For large Mongolian Predator-Grayling, the biggest Grayling on this planet, and for strong Altai Osman, a prehistoric and distinctive fish, endemic only to the deep lakes and remote rivers of the high Altai Mountains in the wild North-West of Mongolia, situated in the very center of Asia. Our comfortable ger-yurta fishing camp will be erected in the vast National Park of the great bordering countries Khasakstan, Siberia, China and Mongolia, for only one week of productive fishing in spring time. An outstanding and unique wilderness fishing experience. The second week of this tour is leading us by another domestic flight to the upper Delger Moron River in the North, - to find perfect conditions for fly-fishing the most beautiful Taimen, common Baikal-Grayling and colorful Lenok-Trout at the opening of spring fishing season. Well-equipped native ger-yurta camp at our favorite river stretch, which proved to be most productive in the past year for fishing dramatically colored big Taimen in prime condition, - who are very aggressive in spring time and willingly attack the dry mouse-fly, if presented in a masterly skillful way ...
The Expert in Mongolia, specialized in genuine sport fishing only, with more than 20 years of experience in the country and own office in Ulaan Baatar. 13. 06. - 28. 06. 2013 DELGER MORON Expedition with horses and river float
15. 06. - 29. 06. 2013 TENGIS I River Shishkid / Tengis / Shagyn, Camp Tengis
25. 06. - 08. 07. 2013 TENGIS II River Shishkid / Tengis / Shargyn, Camp Tengis
Limited small parties of sportsmen, 6 - 8 rods only per camp. Lodges Tengis and Chanagai at the wild river Shishkid, our main log-cabin camps at the legendary rivers Tengis and Shargyn in the remote Darhat Basin, holding traditionally most of the great record-class fish. Perfect conditions for fly-fishing in June and early July, sensational hatches of large insects, pure mountain streams, hungry and aggressive fish in prime condition. Precious Golden-Tailed Grayling on dry fly in crystal-clear and wild rivers.
However, a minimum of 3 - 4 rods are necessary at cost, possibly in combination with another party of fishermen. Preferably traditional fly-fishermen, but also spinning game-anglers by the disciplined use of single-hooks are welcome.
Barbless and solid single-hooks are mandatory, as all of our Giant Taimen are treated with respect, are carefully released and returned into the river. Strong tippet-material and fully-caged reels with reliable drags are required. 200 yards of 40 lbs backing is necessary for trophy-class Taimen.
A few Grayling and Lenok, mostly hurt specimen, may be taken as a daily bag, in order to highlight the camp-kitchen with some more organic, fresh food from the field, stream and woods of the country.
Strong rods, no lesser fly-rod than 9/10-weight for big rivers should be considered for this kind of fishing with large and heavy flies, - better class 12 for big Taimen ! Best are double-handed rods with a deep, powerful action for large rivers, preferably Skagit-Lines or Spey-Lines with a shorter belly and sink-tips. For fishing heavy Lenok Trout and strong Grayling in swift current, a long and smooth 6/7-weight, 10 foot rod is a very good choice, while a strong 11/12 ft. switch-rod in class 7 is probably the best all-round rod for fishing Trout and Grayling in Mongolia.
Robust multi-layered clothing for cold climate and in natural colors. No fashionable jackets in dark or bright colors. Compact outdoor equipment in solid backpacks and rod scabbards/bags for horseback, rafts and off-road vehicles. No hard suitcases.
The effective fly patterns for Taimen and Lenok will be introduced by the fishing guide at booking of a tour and will be tied at the fishing camp.
More than half of our clients each year are old fishing friends, who are returning clients to our waters since 10 years now, some are even Mongolia veterans from the pioneer times some 20 years ago. - Therefore most of the best tours and dates are booked until December for the next year season.
